Sometimes strange things happen!
I received a call, a call like every repair shop receives at one time or another, "Could you repair my great-grandfather's C Melody saxophone?"
I told the young woman on the line that I'd be glad to look over the sax, see what could be done.
A while later she arrived at the workshop, introduced herself, and handed me the saxophone case. I set it down on the floor, opened it up and took a quick look.
Now thoroughly shocked, I exclaimed, "Your great-grandfather was Allen Loomis??".
She replied, "Yes, he was."
And so began the intriguing odyssey of re-padding the only Loomis Double-Resonance C Melody saxophone, predecessor/prototype to the 6 altos he built.
